Wintergreen Resort launches the ski season, offering enjoyable activities for families and snow enthusiasts alike

Nelson County, Virginia – Go no farther than the Wintergreen Resort if you’re searching for an enjoyable pastime during this frigid season!

Our community’s go-to place for skiing is now operational.

“We’ve got an amazing run of chilly weather here, so we’re opening early. The slopes are in some of the greatest conditions we’ve ever had for opening day, and we’ve been making snow nonstop for about seven days since last Friday,” stated Josh Ellwood, Wintergreen’s marketing manager.

Everyone who attended the opening day event concurred: This weather is unbeatable.

“I enjoy it out here, and the circumstances are amazing—it’s the nicest day in three years. It’s amazing, tubular, and unlike anything I’ve ever seen. “I adore it,” snowboarder Max Read declared.

“Well the snow is the best it’s been in the 10 years I’ve been coming up here for opening day, and the people’s moods reflect that,” said Tyler Kidd, a fellow skier.

On Saturday, the slopes were crowded with cheers of encouragement and happy grins.

According to those we spoke with, this is a family custom.

“This is my 10th year coming to Wintergreen, not always opening day but pretty early in the season always, it’s a great place right in our backyard,” Kidd stated.

We spend most weekends here with the family, and it’s one of our favorite things to do. His parents also live up here. Another skier, Kelsey Gordon, commented, “It’s just a really fun thing to do together.”

They currently have two lifts and five runs available.

However, they intend to soon fully open all 27.

“I mean opening weekend, we typically open with about this many trails but as soon as the weather allows, we will be making snow every second and expanding that terrain as we can,” Ellwood stated.

Don’t worry if you don’t enjoy snowboarding or skiing. You can still do things like snow tubing in Wintergreen.
