Centra Gretna Medical Center marks ten years of patient care

Gretna, Virginia – In 2015, Centra Gretna Medical Center opened. Doctors told WDBJ7 that since then, it has been more successful than they ever anticipated.
Many people find it difficult to access health care in primarily rural areas, such as small towns in the southside of Virginia. According to local doctors, residents had to travel about an hour for medical care for a very long time.
According to Dr. James Frenchik, “There was some pent-up demand for primary care resources and specialty resources.” “Therefore, we transported a few of those sources from Lynchburg to Gretna.”
On Sunday, Centra Gretna Medical Center commemorated ten years of providing local residents with services including cardiology, neurology, emergency aid, and more, thereby avoiding a lengthy commute to receive care.
“I believe that by stabilizing and treating critical illness prior to transport, we can increase the likelihood that critical illness will survive,” Dr. Frenchik stated.
The center’s Emergency Services Executive Medical Director is Dr. Frenchik. He claims that more than a quarter of a million patients had been seen in the emergency room alone since the facility’s opening on the second day.
“It’s very crucial that we are here for these patients, and I’m extremely happy about it. “The community benefits greatly from not having to drive to Danville or Lynchburg,” the doctor stated.
Dr. Frenchik expressed his gratitude for the medical center’s continued existence and the increasing number of patients it has been able to accept over the last ten years.
“We’re thriving here, while rural hospitals and medical centers are closing across the nation,” he stated. “The fact that we are here, doing well, and providing access to care is fantastic for this community.”
