Covid-19 positivity rate, number of active cases and hospitalizations are on the rise in Virginia, daily Covid-19 report
Virginia – Omicron continues to spread across the country and so is the case in Virginia where the Covid-19 numbers on Tuesday are on the rise once again.
According to the latest Covid-19 daily report, Virginia added a total of 7,439 new positive cases in the overall statistics.
Since the start of the pandemic, the total number of positive cases now reaches 1,075,288. The total number of cases represents 780,647 confirmed cases, while 294,641 are considered as probable.
Just for a comparison, the number of new cases on Monday was 4,472.
In the same report, additional 185 Covid-19 related deaths were reported. Since the start of the pandemic, the number of covid-19 deaths in Virginia reached 15,504.
11,117,970 PCR tests have been conducted in Virginia as of Tuesday, with a 15.9% positivity rate from those tests over the last week, up from the 14.5% reported Monday.
When it comes to vaccination, 88.3% of Virginians 18 and over have received at least one dose and 77.9% are fully vaccinated. In the overall statistics, 76.9% of the state’s population have gotten at least one dose, with 67.4% fully vaccinated. A total of 13,882,230 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administrated so far.
According to the Virginia Department of Health’s report, a total of 234 new hospitalizations were reported on Tuesday. With the newest number of hospitalizations, there are a total of 1,906 hospitalized Covid-19 patients across the state.
