Roanoke, Virginia – Another election is always coming up here in Virginia.

Additionally, Tuesday’s outcomes prepared the way for the Commonwealth’s next major political battle: the 2025 gubernatorial election.

Although Governor Glenn Youngkin is not eligible to run for a second term in a row, candidates are standing up to take his place.

During Donald Trump’s rally in Salem on Saturday, Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle Sears received a thunderous response. Additionally, Abigail Spanberger, a former congresswoman, participated in the program as Democrats assembled in Richmond on Tuesday evening.

According to Dr. Bob Denton, a political analyst, “Having two women running for the office representing the parties would be very historic, first of all, and it would definitely end up being the first woman for a potential governor of Virginia and also the first woman of color to be governor in Virginia.”

In a year when there won’t be a presidential election, Denton claimed that Governor Youngkin has revitalized Republican prospects in Virginia and that all indications point to a close contest.

“They are both excellent campaigners, in my opinion. On the stump, they excel. They have an excellent experience. And they will undoubtedly be very strong candidates, in my opinion,” Denton added.

Although Sears and Spanberger have declared their candidacies, it is possible—possibly even probable—that more contenders will enter the race before to the nominations being released the following year.
