Roanoke, Virginia – In a case brought by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia, a Roanoke woman was sentenced to five years in prison for distributing heroin on behalf of her imprisoned boyfriend.
Aminee Davenport, 35, entered a guilty plea in November 2021 to one count of selling over 100 grams of heroin.
According to court filings, Davenport was in a relationship with Anthony Barnett, who had been convicted for his role in a shooting in Roanoke. Following his arrest, Barnett approached Davenport with the request that she sell heroin on his behalf. Virginia State Police investigators made two controlled purchases from Davenport, totaling about four ounces of heroin, according to the report.
The investigation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Virginia State Police, and members of the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
