Roanoke 100 Miler 10th anniversary to be marked in January
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Parks & Recreation will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Roanoke 100 Miler in January. Hundreds of people in the Roanoke Valley have pledged to keep track of their physical activity for 100 days.
The goal is for participants to reach 100 miles from January 9 to April 19 by running, biking, hiking, walking or any other activity that will help them reach their goal. This year, the program has switched to a digital platform that can be accessed online or via a smartphone app.
“Some of the really big incentives are that community bonding. For this ten-year anniversary, we are trying something a little new where we are doing everything through an online virtual format. That’s at least one of the new options we’re featuring,” the Community Recreation Coordinator for PLAY Roanoke, Summer Ward, said.
Roanoke Parks & Recreation partnered with Gold’s Gym this year to offer a limited access option to their gym and fitness classes.
