Giles County, Virginia – After protest in Giles County against the Mountain Valley Pipeline, four people were charged.

The Virginia State Police got a complaint regarding a disturbance at the pipeline along Doe Creek Road around 5:32 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a dozen of people and four of them were secured to an 8-foot tall wooden duck. All four of them were arrested and now facing charges of trespassing, interfering with property rights and obstructing free passage.

Appalachians Against Pipelines posted photographs of the event and a quote from one of the four arrested on Facebook.

“This is a pivotal moment for all of us. It is all of our responsibility to do all that we can to protect what we love. Yes, it takes sacrifice, but it is meaningful to know that I am giving up something of lesser value for something of greater value,” Hughes said.
