High egg costs are still having an effect on businesses

Roanoke, Virginia – Since taking over Evie’s Bistro and Bakery last year, Amelia Ammann has had to deal with rising egg prices, a problem that has plagued restaurant owners for years.

Paying the bill might be difficult for Ammann, whose bakery plays a significant role in her business.

“Yeah,” she answered, “so I just kind of close my eyes while I’m doing the checkout, bite the bullet, and hope that the price drops soon.”

The daily rise in egg costs prompts many to wonder what is driving the price surge.
Bird flu is the cause of the deaths of the chickens that lay our eggs, according to Dr. Patrick Jackson, an infectious diseases specialist at UVA Health.

Because avian flu is so highly deadly to birds when it infects a commercial flock, practically every bird is killed to stop the virus from spreading, and then the population must be repopulated. Therefore, I believe it is difficult for producers to maintain the existing supply of eggs,” he stated.

In the event that prices do not decrease, consumers will ultimately bear the expenses.
We’ll have to raise prices as the first step if it continues for a long period, and no one loves that.

However, it will be our next course of action if they simply stop coming down, Ammann stated.

Everyone is going through a tough situation right now, therefore Roanokers should help each other and small businesses.
