Roanoke, Virginia – Saturday was the much anticipated Star City Classic, with dozens of people attending to support their bands.

The William Fleming High School field was the scene of the fourth annual band competition.
1,500 performers from all throughout Virginia, including more than 20 bands, turned up to showcase their football season talents.

People say it means the world to see students getting together and putting on the finest show possible, even if there has been a lot of doubt in the past few days on whether the event was still held due to the weather.

Alex Schmitt, the band director at Patrick Henry High School, stated, “It’s all awesome just to see.” “Seeing your students succeed in that very moment—when the lights go on and they get to do their thing—is the best feeling a teacher can have.”

Every week, these organizations are merely attempting to improve. Will Satterwhite, the band director at William Fleming, stated, “And even though we might be from rival schools or rival school districts, we’re all doing the same thing.” “We are attempting to present engaging performances that highlight our skill and musicianship as well as the fact that we get to get together and watch each other perform.”

Following each performance, there was an awards ceremony where each band received recognition for their hard work.
