Woman fatally struck after exiting her vehicle on Route 220

Roanoke, Virginia – In the early hours of Sunday morning, a Roanoke woman died after being hit by a vehicle in Franklin County after an accident in which her automobile had overturned off the side of the road.
Lauren Virginia Davis, a 25-year-old Roanoke resident, was traveling on Route 220 north of Bonbrook Mill Road at 2:25 a.m. when she was struck by a vehicle, according to the Virginia State Police.
According to state police, Davis’ car slid off the side of the road, slammed into an embankment, and flipped over on its side.
According to authorities, Davis exited her vehicle and was hit by a Volkswagen going south on Route 220.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen was not hurt, and no charges are expected to be filed against him.
