The YMCA at Tanglewood is set to commemorate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an open-house event
Roanoke, Virginia – The YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge is just a few days away from opening its sixth site at Tanglewood Mall, giving the Roanoke community a new place to exercise and engage in a range of programs.
The community is invited to attend the YMCA at Tanglewood’s open house on Saturday, December 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to take a tour of the new facility, get to know the YMCA staff, and find out more about membership possibilities.
The YMCA will then formally welcome members on Tuesday, December 10 at 5 a.m., with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony at 1 p.m. Both events will be held on the second level of Tanglewood Mall, located at 4420-A Electric Road in Roanoke.
Numerous programs and facilities catering to both people and families will be offered at the 47,000-square-foot complex.
“Our team has been working tirelessly for months to realize this vision, and we are eager to welcome the community,” stated Mark Johnson, President & CEO of the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge. “People of all ages and backgrounds will gather at the YMCA at Tanglewood to enhance their well-being, form relationships, and strengthen the community. This is more than simply a gym; it’s a place that supports families, encourages relationships, and promotes health, all of which contribute to the success of our community.
We’re eager to introduce our programming and find methods to help the families and community here because this is an area of our footprint that we haven’t yet fully addressed. Amanda Keffer, Operations Director of the YMCA of Virginia’s Blue Ridge, stated, “I think what’s really special is that we’re able to bring all the fun things of the “Y” right over here to the Tanglewood area.”
The Tanglewood YMCA will have:
• 8 Dedicated Pickleball Courts
• 2 Group Exercise Studios
• Hot Yoga Studio
• Wellness Center and Free Weight Area
• Stay and Play Childcare
• Youth Programs
• Active Older Adult Programs
• Community Space
• Two Dry Saunas
• Functional Training Area
• Locker Amenities
• Virtual Studio
Every day, more than 600 people and families can be served by the Tanglewood YMCA.
According to the team, this facility will uphold the Y’s dedication to providing accessible services by means of its income-based financial assistance program, guaranteeing that no one is denied admission because of financial constraints.
