Henry County, Virginia – The public is being cautioned by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office about a social media craze known as the “Orbeez Challenge” following multiple reports of Orbeez gel blaster abuse.

The Orbeez gel blasters are intended to shoot tiny, water-absorbing beads or gel projectiles.
Using Orbeez gel blasters to shoot random people is encouraged by the “Orbeez Challenge.”
According to deputies, the gel blasters’ beads can inflict serious injuries when discharged from air-powered blasters because they sting.

According to deputies, there is a serious risk that members of the public or law enforcement could mistake these gel blasters for actual firearms, putting everyone in danger. This is because many of these devices mimic functional firearms.

Parents are urged by deputies to talk to their children about the risks associated with the “Orbeez Challenge.”

Although these gel blasters were intended for youngsters, deputies claim that shooting reluctant subjects can turn the tool into a criminal offense.

According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, arrests will be made for anyone who uses the gel blasters to harm other people or incite panic.
