The Blacksburg Women in Agriculture Gathering event is now accepting registration
Blacksburg, Virginia – The sixth annual Virginia Women in Agriculture Gathering will take place in Blacksburg on Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20, at Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Multiple presentations are scheduled to take place.
Presentations on marketing, taxation, labeling requirements, cottage law, and farm business management will take place on Friday.
There will be three tracks available on Saturday. Information about food preservation, beekeeping, fermenting, and the manufacturing of beer, wine, and cider can be found under the Value-Added route.
Produce safety, flower and vegetable production, and cover crops will all be covered in the Market Garden track. Presentations on alley cropping, silvopasture, mushrooms, and ramps will be held on the agroforestry track.
“It’s great to have an opportunity for women to get together and share the experiences they have working in this industry, gain confidence in one another, and get some ideas, as well,” said Meredith Hoggatt, Virginia Cooperative Extension agriculture and natural resources agent.
Those who are interested are welcome to come on one or both days. $35 for Friday, $50 for Saturday, and $75 for both days is the registration fee. Registration closes on Friday, April 5.
