Sunflower farm is completely destroyed as a result of Hurricane Helene’s aftermath

Buchanan, Virginia – As Hurricane Helene continues to wreak havoc across the region, the remains of the storm continue to have an especially negative impact on the local farmers.
At the Beaver Dam Sunflower Farm near Buchanan, the fields that were previously full of life have been completely destroyed and are now leveled.
According to Candace Monaghan, the founder of the well-known sunflower festival, she continues to maintain her optimism that they will still be able to get some goods out when harvest time arrives. However, it will not be at all like the years that came before it.
On the other hand, Monaghan stated, “On the bright side of things, we do have our crop, and it is possible that we have lost all of it, but we are not sure quite yet.”
This will result in a decrease in our income. Nevertheless, I have the impression that we are still doing good when compared to some of the other farmers in the area. All of the cattle, hay, and straw that were owned by many farmers were destroyed. In light of this, I believe that we should continue to look on the positive side of things.
The incredible number of people who attended the Annual Sunflower Festival just a few weeks before the storm is something that Monaghan expresses her gratitude for.
At this point, however, she is forced to play a game of waiting to see if the crops that were harmed may recover before the harvest season.
