Horizon Behavioral Health celebrates 55 years of service in Central Virginia

Lynchburg, Virginia – To commemorate its fifty-five years of providing services in the Central Virginia region, Horizon Behavioral Health is planning an all-day training event. Drs. Sara Bailey, Ph.D. and Stephen Loyd, M.D. will be the guest speakers at this event. A reception will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Servicing the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell in addition to the city of Lynchburg, Horizon Behavioral Health asserts that it is the only Community Services Board.
As a provider of mental health, substance use, and intellectual disability services in Central Virginia, Horizon’s mission is to “support and promote the health, independence and self-worth of individuals and families by providing a continuum of community-based treatment, prevention, early intervention, and aftercare services for persons affected by mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.”
According to Horizon, it serviced about 12,000 people in Central Virginia in 2023, including about 9,000 adults and 3,000 children.
“We recognize this exciting milestone is achievable only through decades of deeply rooted collaborative partnerships and the unwavering dedication of our Horizon teams who support Horizon’s mission to promote the health, independence, and self-worth of individuals in Central Virginia.” Melissa Lucy, Horizon CEO.
The Academy Center of the Arts, 600 Church Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504 is the address for this event.
