Friends and neighbors come together to support a William Byrd High School junior who is battling cancer
Vinton, Virginia – Camden Thepsimuong was given a prognosis a few weeks ago that neither he nor his family had anticipated.
His mother, Charlene Thepsimuong, stated, “Our world kind of shook on July 2nd, and it wasn’t until a little bit before the 15th when he was getting scheduled for a biopsy surgery.”
His life has radically changed as a result of his stage 4 bone cancer. He was no longer able to do the activities he enjoyed.
“[My relatives would] tell me that I had no desire to take any action. Camden recounted, “I just wanted to lay in bed the entire time; I didn’t want to eat or get out of bed.
For Camden, things have become a little easier as his treatment has gone on. He was able to attend an automobile and vendor exhibition on Saturday.
We weren’t sure if Camden would be present because he would be starting chemotherapy in a week, but it turned out that he will attend, according to Charlene.
Jason Lane, a parent of three girls who are Camden’s William Byrd High School classmates, planned the event.
“I wanted to step up and do something for you guys because I felt like it was my duty as a parent,” Lane replied in response to his parents’ communication. “I believe that this is the right thing to do, and God has called me to do it.”
For the event, more than a dozen cars and merchants gathered in the high school parking lot. His cancer treatment is funded in full by all earnings.
“Knowing that I have this much appreciation and knowledge for Cam’s Purpose and knowing that I have friends everywhere who are just willing to show out,” Camden remarked.
Charlene and his aunt set up a page called Cam’s Purpose so that others may follow Camden’s cancer experience.
I was simply telling my spouse and myself, “You know, everything happens for a reason.” And Camden serves a function for God. We don’t know what it is, but we do know it will serve a wonderful purpose, and we give God the praise for that. Thus, I simply named it Cam’s mission, and after that, everything proceeded quite swiftly, according to Charlene.
As people from all across the school district showed their support for their fellow terrier, that page sprang to life.
“I am eager to stroll around him, circling around, and recognizing both familiar and unfamiliar faces, sincerely expressing our gratitude for their presence and unwavering support for Camden,” expressed Charlene. “People who didn’t even know Camden now know about him, but there is so much love for him and our family.”
Upon observing all of the attendees, Lane remarked that the town’s spirit is embodied in the support for Camden.
We all come together as a close-knit community in Vernon. We’re all terriers today, even though I’m a colonel, said Lane.
