Driver arrested, charged with DUI, manslaughter in fatal Roanoke crash

Roanoke, Virginia – A man has been arrested and charged for a crash that killed one and injured another in Roanoke on Dec. 4, 2020.
On Dec. 4 at approximately 5:00 a.m., Roanoke Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the 4800 block of Frontage Raod NW. Officers located an adult female and an adult male at the crash scene.
The male victim was transported to be treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. The female victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS.
Throughout the course of the investigation, police have arrested Christopher Roberts, 34, of Roanoke and have charged him with DUI and DUI Manslaughter in connection to the incident. Fatality investigators determined that Roberts was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. The deceased victim, Ms. Carpenter, was his passenger.
On Tuesday, Roanoke Police Officers working with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located Roberts at a home in Dry Fork, Virginia.
Roberts was taken into custody at the home without incident and all outstanding warrants were served.
