Pembroke, Virgina – Despite the fact that Hurricane Helene’s floodwaters nearly wrecked their houses in Eggleston Springs Campground, the residents aren’t letting the destruction ruin one of their favorite nights of the year.

Becca Ratcliff, a resident, stated that the campground has been cleaned every day for the past three weeks.

Ratcliff remarked, “It’s just a whirlwind of activity with us getting the stage going for this weekend and getting the house gutted.”

After Hurricane Helene, storms rendered the campsite almost unrecognizable, fully submerging her house.

However, she invited the neighborhood out for fun on Saturday night.

Ratcliff stated, “We actually had this scheduled before the flood, and when we found out that a lot of the infrastructure survived, we were like, ‘We’re doing this anyway!'” “We’re going to celebrate our success and declare that we’re not giving up; we’re going to bounce back stronger.”

Every Halloween, Ratcliff invites a band to play at the campground.

This year, the Blacksburg band Smooth Brain will be performing. The band has played at the campground three times before.

Ratcliff noted that seeing them play is like getting back to her previous level of normalcy after a protracted absence.

“I want to express my gratitude to the community for everyone who contributed. However, it’s a return to normalcy and merely a chance to let loose,” Ratcliff stated.

She is appreciative of all the community support after the campground flooded.

You can make a donation to a GoFundMe page to help Ratcliff and the Eggleston Springs Campground community in the future.
