Bedford County church explosion leaves no injuries reported
Bedford County, Virginia – On Monday night, damage to Forest Level Baptist Church is believed to have been caused by an LP gas explosion, according to the Bedford County Fire Marshall.
LP gas, or liquified petroleum, is a flammable hydrocarbon gas composed of a blend of hydrocarbons including propene, propane, butene, and butane, as stated by Britannica.
At the time of the incident, the church was unoccupied, and there have been no reports of injuries.
According to firefighters, teams were dispatched following reports of an explosion at Forest Level Baptist Church located on Bateman Bridge Road at approximately 11 p.m. According to the Bedford Fire Department, crews discovered smoke and flames in the basement, along with a significant hole in the first floor.
On Monday night, the Forest Level Baptist Church stated, “At this time, we will concentrate on healing, rebuilding, and maintaining our faith in God.”
Firefighters report significant damage to the structure.
