As Blacksburg postal delivery problems persist, frustrations increase

Blacksburg, Virginia – Mail problems still plague many Blacksburg residents, affecting both homes and businesses, even though the postal service claims that the majority of its customers receive regular mail and package delivery.
Some claim that the issue appears to be growing worse and that they are still going days or weeks without postal delivery.
“People are not receiving their medications or their bills. Social Security benefit statements are not being sent to them. Tax documents are not being sent to them. “It’s really important,” Bill Duis stated.
Residents’ dissatisfaction is growing as the problem persists with no apparent remedy.
Like many others, Patsy and Bill Duis rely on the post office to provide their basic needs. They claim that despite numerous trips to the post office, phone calls, and emails, nothing seems to resolve the issue and nobody is willing to respond to inquiries.
It simply isn’t helpful. We’ve tried everything, you know. We’ve tried writing a congressman and a few other people, but it doesn’t seem to be working,” Patsy Duis said.
Companies like Duncan Ford Mazda are also being affected.
“We’re not receiving any money. “We can’t even get our DMV paperwork, and we can’t get titles out to customers and businesses,” title clerk Heather Higgs said.
Additionally, I’ve talked to landlords and real estate brokers whose tenants have mailed their rent but it hasn’t arrived.
Locals claim that although the mail appears to have been delivered on the USPS app or website, it never does.
Following the broadcast, a regional postal representative said: “Our data indicates that the majority of Blacksburg customers are receiving regular mail and package delivery. In order to ensure that deliveries are delivered during times of high volume, Postal Service carriers work earlier in the morning and later in the day. Recent obstacles brought on by cold weather have been paired with some unanticipated staff availability issues. We have put emergency preparations into place whenever feasible, including staggered routes and bringing in staff from neighboring workplaces. We will keep investigating these issues. We advise customers to call 1-800-ASK-USPS or their local Post Office if they are not receiving regular mail delivery. We appreciate our customers’ ongoing support.
