Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office alerts people to fake banknotes
Alleghany County, Virginia – A warning has been issued to the general public by the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office regarding the discovery of counterfeit $100 bills on Main Street in Covington on the morning of September 22.
According to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, the banknotes had the word “copy” printed on one side and the phrase “in prop we trust” printed on the other side for use in motion pictures.
Anybody who comes across these bills is strongly encouraged to report them to either the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office or the Covington Police Department, said the deputies.
Additionally, deputies encourage enterprises to verify the legitimacy of all denominations of huge bills of currency.
It has been stated by the deputies that the counterfeit money will be disposed of as property.
