Charlotte County, Virginia – A man found guilty of distributing drugs in the Charlotte County region has been sentenced to 20 years in jail, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.

Following a Tri-County Drug and Gang Task Force investigation, 42-year-old Kristin McWayne Greene of Lunenburg entered a guilty plea to nine charges of distribution of cocaine and fentanyl, according to the sheriff.

Greene acknowledged selling drugs for $10,800 in less than five weeks while making controlled purchases.

Law enforcement transported the materials to the Department of Forensic Science in Richmond, Virginia, for analysis after the operation. After forensic scientists examined the materials, they were found to be illicit drugs.

“During two of the controlled narcotics buys, the defendant distributed pills which had the visual appearance consistent with the pharmaceutical preparation for Oxycodone; however, when tested the pills contained Fentanyl,” said Charlotte County Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Leslie E. Schneider.

Laboratory testing “indicates 7 out of every 10 pills seized by DEA contain a lethal dose of fentanyl,” according to the Drug Enforcement Administration website. “Let this case serve as a reminder that you never know what you are getting into your hands when buying illegal drugs.”

The statements “this serves as a reminder of the dangers of illegal narcotics and our commitment to enforcing Virginia’s drug laws” were made jointly by the sheriffs of Charlotte County and Lunenburg County.

Please call the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office at 434-542-5141 or the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office at 434-696-4452 if you have any information about drug distribution in the area.
