A charity baseball game will be played by Radford University to raise money for Hurricane Helene’s recovery
Pulaski, Virginia – On Friday, October 18, a benefit baseball game will take place at Calfee Park between the Radford University Highlanders and the West Virginia University Potomac State Catamounts. The goal of the event is to raise money to assist individuals who have been affected by Hurricane Helene.
The Highlanders, who were forced to relocate after severe flooding devastated Sherman Carter Memorial Stadium at Radford University, are among the many towns that are still in the process of recuperating from the hurricane. Others in the New River Valley are also still in the process of recovering from the storm.
This event is being held in conjunction with the United Way of Southwest Virginia and will consist of a doubleheader, with the first game beginning at 5 p.m. and the second game beginning at 7:30 p.m. (both times in local time). At 4:30 p.m., the gates will open, and there will be a contribution section that is located at the main gate.
Every single person who is present is strongly invited to take part in the contribution campaign. Items such as non-perishable food items, new personal hygiene products, and domestic cleaning supplies are among the goods that have been requested for contribution.
QR codes will be made available at the game for those individuals who would feel more comfortable making a monetary contribution.
“We have been blessed with the ability to assist our baseball community during a very challenging time,” explains Calfee Park and Pulaski River Turtles general manager JW Martin. “We’re excited to be helping Coach Guerra and the Highlanders during their time of need by hosting this event, and we hope that baseball fans will help us use this event to impact our local communities in need through donations and fundraising.”
