Man suffered severe burns at a Salem park
Salem, Virginia – On Sunday afternoon, a man suffered severe burns at a park in Salem. According to the witnesses, his body was completely engulfed in flames.
The incident took place at around 1:07 p.m. near Lake Spring Park, which is located at the intersection of West Main Street and Green Street.
According to witnesses, the man was sitting on a bench near the entrance to the park. People tried to put out the fire by throwing water on the man and using a fire extinguisher while they waited for help to arrive.
When medics arrived, they administered first aid to the man and transported him to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
