Two seriously injured in northwest Roanoke shooting, suspect in custody
ROANOKE, Va.— Police are investigating reports of a shooting in northwest Roanoke Saturday afternoon that left two people injured.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, word came in of shots fire in the 800 block of Queen Avenue NW shortly after 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, April 3. Officers were reportedly near the area when the shooting occurred and found two women with what appeared to be serious gunshot wounds.
Roanoke Fire-EMS transported both women to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
After a brief foot pursuit, police say the suspect in the shooting — 20-year-old Tashaun Dixon of Roanoke — was taken into custody and charged with two counts of malicious wounding.
The investigating into this shooting is still ongoing, the department says.
