Roanoke man charged after dog found dead with arrow

ROANOKE, Va. — A Roanoke man has been charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty after an animal warden found a dog shot dead with an arrow.
According to the Roanoke Police Department, an animal warden responded to the 2000 block of Holley Road NE on March 24 for a neglect call.
The animal warden spoke with a person at the residence who allowed her into the backyard.
According to a search warrant, the animal warden found a dead black German Shepherd with an arrow through its chest underneath a white sheet in the middle of the yard.
RPD says the investigation shows that the dog’s owner tried to euthanize the dog with a crossbow. The owner, 43-year-old Michael Everson of Roanoke, has been charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty. The investigation is ongoing.
