Man arrested on New Year’s Day after pursuit
Virginia – A 24 years old man from Lynchburg, has been arrested on New Year’s Day following a vehicle chase from Lynchburg into Bedford County.
According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s office, on Friday around 1:30 a.m. they received a call from the Lynchburg Police department in regards to a pursuit on U.S 460 heading into Bedford County. Officers said that the person being pursued was wanted in connection with an assault and battery investigation
When Bedford County deputies joined the pursuit the vehicle hit a county EMS vehicle twice while trying to pass it.
The deputies deployed spike strips which successfully ended the pursuit and they arrested the suspect, Darius Antonio Johnson.
He was charged with felony eluding, felony assault and battery of EMS and driving without a license in Bedford County. More charges may be pending in Lynchburg.
