Salem, Virginia – On Tuesday, Governor Glenn Youngkin visited southwest Virginia.

Along with signing a new law, he shared his opinions on the November ballot.

Governor Youngkin signed a law intended to promote inclusivity and expand behavioral health services from the YMCA podium.

“We have expanded capacity in a lot of ways, both through the developmental disability waivers, but also in facilities. And so crisis receiving centers, psychiatric emergency rooms, and on top of that mobile crisis teams have expanded substantially. We still have more work to do there,” said Youngkin.

He also spoke about subjects that were popular in the Southwest. One was the Lynchburg race for Congressmen Bob Good and John McGuire’s 5th district. The difference in the race was only a few hundred votes.

“I believe and expect that Congressman good will ask for a recount. And that’s fully within his rights to do so and I respect those rights. But as of today, Senator McGuire is the winner. And I congratulate him on that,”

The former president Trump is traveling to Virginia on Friday. Virginia, according to Youngkin, is a battleground state as more people compete in the polls.

“I think it does represent the enthusiasm that is there for President Trump’s campaign. And again, I look forward to welcoming him to Virginia because I haven’t had that chance yet to do and I’m looking forward to doing as governor,” said Youngkin. “I think that they’re going to come to this election with a real view for looking for strong leadership at the national level. And I do believe that this race will be a very important one.”
