First responders emphasizing the need for safety when there are fallen electricity wires

Roanoke, Virginia – Tuesday night, a car on Memorial Bridge in Roanoke collided with a telephone pole, resulting in downed power lines that could be dangerous.
Deputy Chief Marci Stone of Roanoke Fire-EMS stated, “We had people trying to drive around our barriers.”
Stone said that some motorists disregarded traffic signals from firefighters, cones, and barrier tape.
People were attempting to drive to high-voltage lines in that specific case, according to Stone.
It’s imperative that you heed the instructions of fire officials if you’re near an emergency incident. In the event that first responders have not yet arrived, they are even urging people to do their own assessments on the scene.
“Observe the surroundings. Stone advised checking if there are any hanging or disconnected utility lines from the house.
Stone claims that storms—which they’ve had a lot of in the last few weeks—are the main reason for downed power lines.
“Either we’ll have wind that causes the utility that may be loose to sway and become loose from the pole, or we’ll have trees that haven’t been cut back away from the utility,” Stone said.
Stone is urging people to call for assistance if they’re not sure what to do.
“Call 911 anytime you’re unsure; we’ll come to your aid,” Stone advised.
