Drivers asked to find alternate routes to avoid traffic on Roanoke Boulevard in Salem
Salem, Virginia – You might want to consider choosing a different route than Roanoke Boulevard in Salem in order to avoid traffic congestion when the school year begins.
If you regularly travel between East Salem Elementary and the Burton Center between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. and/or 2:15 and 2:45 p.m. on school days, Salem City Schools recommends taking a different route if possible.
According to school officials, this will allow children being dropped off or picked up to enter and exit the school parking lots more quickly, as well as assist you avoid sitting in traffic for an extended period of time.
This news comes after Salem kids returned to class on Monday, Aug. 30 at all six of the city’s schools.
