Dog is saved from sinkhole by Bedford Fire Department

Bedford County, Virginia – On Sunday, September 8, the Bedford Fire Department was able to save a dog that was trapped in a sinkhole.
Following the lunch hour, firefighters were dispatched to Burks Hill Road in response to reports of a dog that was trapped in a sinkhole behind the Shell Station.
As stated by the Bedford Fire Department, the dog had fallen roughly seven feet into a small compartment that was located underground.
Firefighters said that the owner stated that the dog was older and had issues with its vision and hearing, but that it did not exhibit violent behavior.
Through the use of a rope, firefighters were able to rescue the dog from the hole in the ground that had been made larger.
The dog was able to be returned to its owner without suffering any injuries, as reported by the firefighters.
