City Council Recognizes 2020 Citizen of the Year
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke City Council has named the Resilient Spirit of the Star City as the 2020 Citizen of the Year for the City of Roanoke. Mayor Sherman P. Lea announced this decision at the 7 p.m.
City Council meeting on Nov. 16. The Mayor recognized the citizens of Roanoke for demonstrating this spirit throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Among many things, he cited them for being courageous, strong, and community-oriented during the pandemic.
He also praised their tireless commitment to this City through active engagement, and following guidelines from the Governor and the CDC.
