Baseball America Tabs Virginia as Preseason No. 5 Team
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia baseball garnered its highest preseason ranking since 2016 after Baseball America listed Cavaliers as the No. 5 team in the country in its annual preseason top-25 on Monday (Jan. 25). Virginia is also the top-ranked Atlantic Coast Conference school going into the 2021 season according to the staff at Baseball America.
The Cavaliers are nationally ranked in three other preseason national polls – Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (No. 14), D1Baseball (No. 16) and Perfect Game (No. 9). Virginia was 14-4 overall and 2-1 in the ACC before their 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The Cavaliers were receiving votes in every major poll and were ranked as high as No. 17 (Baseball America).
