Roanoke, Virginia – In Denver, Colorado, Roanoke City celebrated the receipt of its eighth All-America City Award on Sunday night, marking a significant accomplishment.
To accept the award, leaders, locals, and organizations from all around Star City traveled to Denver. As of right now, Roanoke is the city with the most All-America City Awards.
The National Civic League honored Roanoke for its exceptional achievements in lowering linguistic barriers, sustainability, and equity and empowerment at the 75th annual All-America City Award Event. The city was commended by the league for a number of the activities.
“Through the Star City Strong Recovery and Resiliency Advisory Panel, community inclusion efforts, and the Interwoven Equity Advisory Board, they’ve shown dedication to fostering an inclusive community for all,” said the National Civic League stated on Facebook.
Our hometowns’ Roanoke was not the only one to receive recognition. Additionally, the City of Danville received recognition for its involvement with students, police-resident collaborations, and social media presence.
“Danville is honored to receive the prestigious 2024 All-America City designation,” said Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones. “Our city is undergoing a remarkable transformation, and we are committed to ensuring that every citizen has a voice in shaping our future. This award is a testament to the collaborative spirit that propels us forward.”
Danville has already won three All-America City Awards. Additionally, the city was chosen in 1977 and 2020.
The honors for Danville and Roanoke both recognize the communities’ dedication to civic excellence.
