A hunter sustained injuries after a fall from a tree stand, and equipment was reported stolen
Moneta, Virginia – A hunter sustained injuries after a fall from a tree stand on Sunday, December 1, as reported by the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department.
The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at 6:12 a.m. following reports of a hunter who had fallen from a tree stand on the 1300 block of Stony Fork Road.
According to the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department, the hunter was situated almost half a mile from a house, making four-wheel drive vehicles essential for access.
Firefighters reported that crews made their way as near as they could before trekking a quarter of a mile to find the injured hunter.
A hunter was taken to a hospital with non-serious injuries.
A battery-powered LED puck was taken during the rescue operation on Stony Fork Road. A puck was positioned on the roadside to indicate the driveway for arriving units, but the theft hindered their response time.
The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department is requesting the return of an item that has been taken. They urge whoever has it to bring it back to the station.
