Man arrested on multiple charges in connection with a woman’s death in Carroll County
Carrol County, Virginia – According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a woman who had been shot to death was discovered in Carroll County on Wednesday morning.
A report about an unresponsive woman at around 11:30 a.m. drew deputies to the Woodlawn neighborhood at 68 Fairlawn Lane.
Responding deputies discovered the woman dead, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The woman, 30-year-old Laura Caroline “Carrie” Buffkin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies carried out an investigation that pointed to Kevin Lee Sizemore, 42, as a person of interest in the homicide. They located Sizemore and found him in possession of a weapon that the deputies believed was used in the murder.
After that, Sizemore was taken into custody and charged with murder, as well as using a firearm in the commission of a felony, possessing a firearm by a prohibited person, possessing a firearm while subject to a protective order, felony larceny of a firearm, and possessing a concealed weapon.
After appearing before a magistrate, Sizemore was booked at the New River Valley Regional Jail without the possibility of bail until his arraignment.
