Power outage causes closure of Floyd County Public Schools
Floyd County, Virginia – Floyd County Public Schools announced they would be closed on Friday.
The announcement was made through a Facebook post, which cited ongoing power outages as the reason.
According to Appalachian Power, a tree caused a power outage in the Copper Hill neighborhood on Thursday morning at about 8 a.m.
More than 1,000 residents were affected by the outage.
At this moment, the estimated timeframe for power restoration is 1 p.m. on Friday.
