Blood drive to be held in Roanoke on Wednesday
Roanoke, Virginia – A blood drive is being held by the American Red Cross in Roanoke on Wednesday to replenish the blood supply locally.
The Community Blood Drive will take place on December 22 from 1 to 6 p.m.
“Our local Red Cross’ blood supply is at a dangerously low level—as of this week there is only one day’s supply for our area. This drastic blood shortage could impact transfusions and critical surgery needs,” Total Action for Progress says.
Community members are encouraged to sign up at redcrossblood.org and search for the sponsor code “Roanokeva” to find the blood drive page and make an appointment. Appointments are recommended over walk-ins.
To reach the 20-unit objective, the Red Cross needs about 25 donors to sign up. As of Monday afternoon, 11 positions had been filled.
The drive will take place at the American Red Cross Auditorium in Roanoke, which is located at 352 Church Avenue SW.
