Over $2 million to be invested in park system infrastructure
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke intends to make the most diverse investment in park infrastructure in the city’s history.
The Department of Parks and Recreation will invest more than $2.3 million on the park system, according to the City of Roanoke’s statement on Wednesday. The money will be spent on objects that have been ignored for a long time.
“Parks are a critical and essential public service. From promoting community wellness and quality family time to improving environmental quality and connecting with nature, parks help build a better, more livable community for all city residents,” the Director of Parks and Recreation, Michael Clark said.
While the money won’t cover all of the park system’s requirements, it is a significant step forward for Roanoke. The city expects the project to be finished by June of next year.
