Virginia voters offered 4 different options to vote in June 8 primary elections
LYNCHBURG, Va. — Virginia will hold primary elections on Tuesday, June 8.
Any voter in the City of Lynchburg may vote in the statewide Democratic primary, and any voters in House of Delegates District 22 may vote in the Republican primary for that district, but voters may vote in only one primary.
Voters have four options to vote in these elections:
Apply online or request an application to vote by mail:
- The deadline to apply for a vote by mail ballot is Friday, May 28. Residents can also request a vote by mail application by calling the Registrar’s Office at 434-477-5999
- After applying, you can check to see if your absentee application was received and whether your ballot was sent and received by going to the Citizen Portal.
Early Voting In-Person:
- In-person early voting will begin at the Registrar’s Office on Friday, April 23, and will continue through Friday, June 4.
Ballot drop boxes:
- Completed ballots may be dropped off in a secure box at the Registrar’s office. Staff will come to voters’ curbside for voters to drop off their ballot in the secure box. In addition, secure drop-boxes staffed by election officials will be available at each precinct on Election Day.
Voting in person on June 8:
- All precincts will be open for in-person voting on primary election day on Tuesday, June 8, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you have not yet registered to vote in Lynchburg, or need to make changes to your name and/or address on our records, you must file a voter registration application by Monday, May 17.
