Accident shuts down US-220S in Roanoke County
Roanoke, Virginia -An accident is causing delays on US-220 in Roanoke County, according to the county’s fire and rescue department.
Authorities say the crash happened near Red Hill Baptist Church and involves downed power lines, low hanging wires and possibly slick roads.
As of 10:49 a.m., all southbound lanes are closed.
According to VDOT, traffic is backed up for about two miles.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area if possible.
