Roanoke, Virginia – Because parking lot improvements have begun, passengers who are interested in departing from Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport may wish to arrive earlier than they normally would when they arrive.

The first phase of the project, which will last for fifteen months, began on Monday. Because the parking lots at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport have not been updated in thirty years, the aim is to make several modifications to all of them.

The airport made the announcement exactly one month ago that it intends to carry out a comprehensive revision and enhancement on the parking lots.

“We pride ourselves on offering a really customer centric experiences,” said Alexa Briehl, PR & Marketing Manager with Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport.

The lots have been repaved and restriped, larger parking spots have been added, longer drive lanes have been added, new curbs have been installed, new LED lighting has been installed, and equipment for charging electric cars has been installed.

“The lots in front of the terminal, short term and long term, have remained largely untouched over the past 30 years. So that means they are built before the popularity of SUVs and large trucks that we all love,” Briehl siad.

The undertaking is broken down into four distinct phases, with the first phase beginning on Monday and anticipated to last for around one month.

“We all probably cut it a little too close coming to the airport it’s very convenient. But give yourself some extra time to find parking. Where you enter might be a little different and you might have to park in your second choice,” said Briehl.
