Roanoke fire crews training includes climbing at 240 feet height

Roanoke, Virginia ā On Sunday, Roanoke Fire-EMS teams underwent training at a height of roughly 240 feet.
A training was provided for Heavy Technical Rescue teams in the Roanoke Valley by the Roanoke Fire-EMS department in collaboration with Robins and Morton Branch Builds.
They gathered outside Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital to learn how to maneuver past the site’s 240-foot crane in case they need to react to an emergency involving a construction worker.
āThese types of calls are very low frequency, but theyāre very high-risk. You can see theyāre working up at a high area today and having to work around a lot of construction equipment around the crane, as well,ā Battalion Chief Chad Riddleberger said, who is also a leader in the departmentās Special Operations Division.
