Roanoke, Virginia ā€“ On Sunday, Roanoke Fire-EMS teams underwent training at a height of roughly 240 feet.

A training was provided for Heavy Technical Rescue teams in the Roanoke Valley by the Roanoke Fire-EMS department in collaboration with Robins and Morton Branch Builds.

They gathered outside Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital to learn how to maneuver past the site’s 240-foot crane in case they need to react to an emergency involving a construction worker.

ā€œThese types of calls are very low frequency, but theyā€™re very high-risk. You can see theyā€™re working up at a high area today and having to work around a lot of construction equipment around the crane, as well,ā€ Battalion Chief Chad Riddleberger said, who is also a leader in the departmentā€™s Special Operations Division.
