Roanoke, Virginia – “Powered by Connection” is the theme for Older Americans Month this year.

Beckie Spaid, a Senior Home Care Specialist with Care Advantage, says there will be an effort this month “to recognize the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. We will explore the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combating isolation, loneliness, and other issues.”

Older Americans Month is a significant advancement for the elderly and goes beyond a simple announcement.

Spaid lists Medicare, bolstering Social Security, and increasing life expectancy as some of the significant adjustments.

She does, however, draw attention to the fact that more needs to be done to guarantee that no elderly person may worry about how they will pay for critical medications, put food on the table, or provide for their kids and grandkids when they fall asleep at night.
