Dick’s Sporting Goods expresses its support for youth sports by donating money and free stuff to a local team
Roanoke, Virginia – On Tuesday, Dick’s Sporting Goods in Roanoke awarded Inner City Athletics, a local track team, with a donation in the amount of $1,000 as a way to express its support for youth sports in the area.
According to Head Coach Paul J.J. Moyer, the funds will be spent on purchasing uniforms and track meet fees.
“It’s another opportunity for kids to find out about themselves. Because track is an individual sport, but it is also a team sport as well,” Moyer said.
Additionally, the Dick’s Sporting Goods shop in Roanoke provided the team with some free stuff.
Several members of the Inner City Track Team explained the reasons why they enjoy being a part of the team.
One of the runners, Jolette Uriaite, said, “It just feels really special to have teammates that support you and are cheering you up,” while another team member, Kaisa Bonilla, added, “And it’s a good workout.”
