Roanoke, Virginia – A statement from AmRhein Wine Cellars on Monday stated that the vineyard is closing after 26 years of business.

Owners Russ and Paula Amrhein said that Russ’s health issues related to Parkinson’s are the reason the winery is closing.

The tasting room will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. until June 30, 2024, with live music every Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. for the final six weeks of the business.

The vineyard also says that there would be a discount on wine sales.

On their website, the following statement was posted:

“Dear Valued Wine Lovers,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of AmRhein Wine Cellars after 26 years of crafting exceptional wines and memories. It has been an incredible journey, filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of our cherished customers like you.
While this decision wasn’t made lightly, we believe it’s the right one for our family and the legacy of our winery due to Russ’ health complications with Parkinson’s and the amount of time needed for his care. Over the years, we’ve experienced countless joys, challenges, and triumphs, but through it all, one thing remained constant – your loyalty and enthusiasm for our wines.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has walked through our doors, shared a glass with us, celebrated with us at winery events and become part of the Amrhein family. Your support has been the driving force behind our success, and for that, we are forever grateful. The last day our tasting room will be open is June 30, 2024.
As we prepare to close our doors, we invite you to join us every Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the memories we’ve created together. In our last 6 weeks, the tasting room will be open Saturdays & Sundays from 12-5pm offering discounted wine prices as a token of our appreciation for your unwavering support. We will still be offering live music every Saturday from 1-5pm and maybe even a final event on our last weekend (if we can pull it off). You can stay tuned on our website www.amrheinwine.com.
While this chapter may be coming to a close, we take comfort in knowing that the spirit of AmRhein Wine Cellars will live on in the countless memories shared over a glass of our beloved wines. We encourage you to continue exploring the world of Virginia wines-so many delicious ones – and to cherish the moments spent savoring each sip designed in our wine-loving state.
Once again, thank you for being part of our journey. It has been quite a ride! What an honor and a privilege it has been to serve you, and we will forever hold the memories close to our hearts.
With warm regards,
Russ & Paula Amrhein
Owners”
